Initiatives

The Prospect Lake District Community Association has been instrumental in caring for the environment in and around the lake.

Prospect Lake Access Locations and Regulations
We want Prospect Lake users to enjoy our little slice of Heaven. Please do ensure that you review and understand the Lake Access Locations and Regulations.

Prospect Lake Preservation Society
The Prospect Lake Preservation Society (PLPS) has been revived, with the specific focus of starting a lake weed harvesting program. A quick update on PLPS activities:

  • Coordinating a lake monitoring plan with BC Lake Stewardship Society
  • Charity status application is now being processed by CRD
  • Developing a new website and contact email address for inquiries
  • AGM and general information session to be held in the spring

Preserving Local Maltby Lake
As you may be aware, local residents Carmel and Woody Thomson are leading the fight for the conservation and preservation of Maltby Lake, an historical and ecological gem right here in our District. A blog by Gillian McDonald-Harvey, granddaughter of Pip & Catherine Holmes who originally owned the
land and intended its future protection, tells the story.

The History of Prospect Lake Health Initiatives
The Prospect Lake Preservation Society, the Prospect Lake District Community Association, Peninsula Streams Society and Tod Creek Preservation Society and many local volunteers and advocates have
worked tirelessly to protect Prospect Lake and the Tod Creek watershed.
